Pancha Sabha
பஞ்ச சபை
5 temples in the tradition. No text fixes an order for them, so they are a set, not a sequence — visit in whatever order suits your route.

Other identifications
Some places in this circuit are identified differently by different traditions or scholars. Each view is given; we do not settle it.
Chepparai Natarajar
Identified by: An account holding the Chepparai temple near Rajavallipuram to be the original Tamra Sabha, arguing from the Tamil name Chepparai as 'hall of copper' and from the permanent presence of the Nataraja bronze there.
The other view
The mainstream identification is the Nellaiappar temple at Tirunelveli. The Chepparai claim cites no inscription, text or scholar. Note that the general reference article on the Pancha Sabhai contradicts itself, naming Chepparai in its opening and Nellaiappar in its own table.
Where this list comes from
- Oral account: No order-fixing source exists. The set is conventionally listed; the Tamil temple press and devotional portals enumerate the five halls without citing any text, and the Koyil Puranam and Cidambara Mahatmya attach to Chidambaram's own sanctity rather than to this grouping. temple.dinamalar.com · seen 2026-09-18
A note for the curious
No order — no purana, Tevaram hymn or sthala purana establishing the set or a sequence could be traced. Sources also disagree on which dance is assigned to the Ratna and Tamra halls, and on which temple holds the Tamra Sabha.
