The story of this place

Family note: this story includes violence or death.
Told in: The temple's sthala purana, as told locally

The three brothers and the well

Three brothers, one mute, one deaf and one blind, dig a well to water their field. Their tool strikes something hard. When they dig on, blood flows from the stone, and the three are cured. The villagers who gather find an image of Ganesha in the well and cannot reach its base, because the well never empties. The temple is built around it, and the image still stands in water.
